Arcade man dies from injuries in vehicle crash

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on April 15, 2018 the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one car motor vehicle accident on State Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon.  Alvin Petry, 86 of Arcade, was traveling west bound on State Route 20A when he drove off the road and crashed into a tree off the north side of the roadway.  Petry was transported to the Wyoming County Community Hospital by the Varysburg Ambulance for suspected torso injuries.  Petry was later transferred to the Erie County Medical Center for further evaluation.   On May 2, 2018 Petry succumbed to his injuries.  Assisting at the scene was Varysburg Fire Department, Sheldon Fire Company and Monroe Ambulance Medic 80.
