Fillmore - Melvin L. Potter of 28 Prospect Street died
Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in his home. He was born on February 20, 1937 in
Winter Harbor, Maine, a son of the late George Potter and Myrtle Torrey. On
August 16, 1958 in Fillmore he married Sidney Vedder who survives.
Mel was a former superintendent of the Fillmore Water
Department for 44 years and a former bus driver for Fillmore Central School for
38 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1958
to 1960. He loved to read books, writing, poetry and vacationing in Maine.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Dana
(Courtney) Potter, LeiLani (Mathew) Martin, Melvin (Shanda) Potter Jr., Chad
(Mandy) Potter, Cory (Tammy) Potter all of Fillmore, 15 grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, three brothers, Steven (Janet) Potter of Fillmore, Terry
(Claudette) Potter of South Gouldsboro, Maine, David (Judy) Potter of Orland, Maine
and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Alger Cemetery, Fillmore.
