Wellsville UPDATE: Two young students struck by car walking to school - driver charged
Wellsville
Police say two school children were injured when they were struck by a vehicle
today at about 7:15 a.m. Police Chief Timothy O’Grady said the students were in
the crosswalk at the Genesee Parkway at South Main Street. The students, ages
12 and 13, were walking to the Secondary School on West State Street at the
time. Police said Judith Scott, 66, of Wellsville failed to yield to the
pedestrians and struck them. The students, a male and a female, sustained non
life-threatening injuries and were treated at Jones Memorial Hospital. Wellsville
Ambulance, medics and off-duty personnel responded to the scene. Police said Scott
was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way to
pedestrians in a crosswalk. Scott is due
to appear in Wellsville Village Court on November 14th at 4:30 p.m.
