Fillmore woman pleads guilty to rape
A Fillmore woman will spend the next ten years on probation after she pleaded guilty Wednesday to 3rd degree rape. Margaret E. Smith, 37, of Pinkerton Road had originally faced five counts five counts of rape and endangering the welfare of a child. The crimes occurred in March and April in the Town of Caneadea when Smith had sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17. In addition to probation, Judge Terry Parker sentenced her to register as a Level One sex offender (lowest level), pay a $1,000 sex offender fee, a $50 registration fee, a $325 court surcharge, and a $50 DNA fee. Further, Judge Parker issued a ten year order of protection. The case was prosecuted by ADA Amanda Finn.
