Troopers received a report of a 41-year-old man who exited a vehicle and walked into a heavily wooded area after a dispute on Eymer Road in the Town of Amity. The dispute occurred at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017. When the man had not yet returned by 1:30 p.m. the following day, family members became concerned and contacted 911. A coordinated search effort was organized. Members of the New York State Police from SP Amity and members of the Amity Rescue Squad began a search of the area. State Police Aviation and K9 were deployed and the man was successfully located by a State Police bloodhound, Paris. He was found to have had sustained injuries and was extricated from the woods by an off-road utility vehicle operated by the Amity Rescue Squad.
He was transported to Jones Memorial Hospital and later flown to ECMC in Buffalo for treatment of his injuries.
