Obituary: Timothy "Big Tim" Ahl, 58, formerly of Bolivar
Spring TX - Timothy “Big Tim” Ahl, 58, a former Bolivar
resident passed away surrounded by his family on April 8, 2017 at Northwest
Houston Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born July 25, 1958 in
Shinglehouse PA. He was the son of Donald and Deirdre Ahl. Moving to Bolivar in
1964, Tim was a graduate of Bolivar Central School class of 1976, were he
participated in football, baseball, band (trumpet), wrestling and earned his
eagle scout patch. Tim attended Alfred State College prior to leaving for
Houston TX with friends in 1977. He worked for several welding companies in the
Houston area as a structural fitter before retiring in 2005.Tim settled in
Spring TX after buying a home in 2009.Tim is loved by his adopted Texas family
and by so many friends which he often lovingly nicknamed. He held friendships
dear to his heart with most spanning lifetimes from his childhood in Bolivar.
Tim enjoyed restoring his 1955 black Chevy BelAir, playing poker, collecting
Zippo lighters, music, history of anything, introducing beef on wick to Texans,
and most of all riding his Harley with friends. An avid sports fan, supporting
the Astros, Texans, Rockets, Longhorns, Aero’s, and his beloved die hard
devoting to the Buffalo Sabres. Surviving are his mother Deirdre Ahl Bolivar; one
brother Sean (Sue) Ahl Bolivar; two sisters, Moira Ahl Bolivar, Kathleen Perez Olean;
Several nieces and nephews, and several grandnieces and nephews, his adopted
family from Texas and his special girl “Cowboy” (African Grey) whom he loved
deeply. He was preceded in death by his father in 1999, one brother D. Michael
Ahl 2010 and several aunts and uncles. Tim will always be remembered by his
smile, his laugh, being easy going, storytelling, beer drinking, intelligence,
quick wit, love of Halloween pranks, fabulous sense of humor, honesty, and will
be sadly missed by all. A memorial service to share the story of his life will
be held on Saturday July 29, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. at the Bolivar Country Club. In
Lieu of flowers please make donations in Tim’s name to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
