Leonard J. Ferguson, 90, of Galeton, PA, died Thursday, June
29, 2017 in Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Born July 25, 1926, in Osawatomie, KS, he was
the son of Leonard and Dessie Bell Hadsall Ferguson. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably
with the US Army in the Pacific Theatre.
On March 4, 1950, in Bentonville, AR, he married the former Geraldine
Marie Kline, who predeceased him on October 19, 1980. On April 7, 1984, in West Pike, PA, he
married the former Joanne “Joni” Herbert, who predeceased him on April 9,
2006. He was employed by H.E. Salzberg
Co., Inc. as a machinist and later as general superintendent for the Wellsville
Addison Galeton railroad. Leonard served
as president of the Galeton School Board.
He attended the West Pike Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic
Lodge in Osawatomie, KS, the VFW, and Galeton Rotary. Surviving are: a son, Randy (Tammi) Ferguson of Gaines, PA; two grandchildren, Craig Ferguson and Amanda
Golec; three great-grandchildren, Tyler,
Erika, and Aiden; a step-daughter,
Lorraine “Lorrie” Sharp; two
step-grandchildren, Christopher Misechok and Kathryn Misechok; a sister, Thelma Landers of Osawatomie,
KS; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. In addition to his first wife and his second
wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, William, Thomas, and Donald. Friends may call Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from
6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the West Pike Baptist Church, where Funeral Services will be
held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The Rev.
John Prouty will officiate. A graveside
service with military rites will be held in Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie,
