Wyoming County deputies make arrest in burglary case
Carl M. Vander, 22 of Bergen was arrested following a
burglary complaint at Empire Livestock on State Route 19 in the Town of
Covington. An initial complaint of a suspicious male in the area was received
on January 24, 2017 at 10:09 p.m. on Wyoming Road near Route 19. Deputies responded and checked the area, and
footprints were found around the Empire Livestock building leading to their
back door. The company was contacted,
and a follow up investigation the next morning determined the business had in
fact been burglarized, and damage had been caused to the interior of the
business. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies located a suspicious male on
January 25, 2017 walking on State Route 19 at Mungers Mill Road in the Town of
Warsaw. Upon approaching the male, he
was observed to be wearing a baseball cap with “Empire Livestock Marketing”
embroidered on it. A subsequent
investigation determined the male, identified as Carl M. Vander, had allegedly burglarized
Empire Livestock the night prior. Vander
had allegedly damaged the business inside and stolen the baseball cap from
inside a dump truck parked in a garage on the property.
