Wellsville: Village may demolish burned out homes
On January 11, 2017 fire ravaged two homes at 35 & 37 North Broad Street in Wellsville. Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske Monday night told the village board that one or both buildings must be demolished as a result of the blaze. She said one owner, possibly both, agreed with the decision. If there is a disagreement, a hearing will be held Feb.27, but Fenske said that is unlikely. The Code Officer said she is still waiting for the final fire investigators report. On the same topic, police chief Tim O'Grady acknowledged to the Board the receipt of a letter from police Sergeant Green, who commended the efforts of police first responders Tory Rounds and John Valentine. In a statement, the village board said they (the officers) evacuated tenants of the building and "put others' safety above yourself...mother, father, children" There was applause.
