UPDATE HERE
A house fire late Friday afternoon claimed the life of an elderly Wellsville man. Wellsville fire was dispatched to a house fire on South Broad Street in the village. Fire Chief Shaun Walsh said the blaze was confined to the front portion of the two story home and was quickly extinguished. Three volunteers entered the first story and pulled the sole occupant out (Billy Day 3rd, Greg Day and Brandon Harris). He was rushed to Jones Memorial where he was pronounced dead. Chief Walsh said he was a man "in his 70's" and was pronounced dead. He rented the lower portion of the home. Walsh said the blaze was contained to "two or three rooms." At 8 p.m., the property owner arrived at the scene. The scene was taped off and Wellsville police are investigating.
