Allegany County court releases name of teenage suspect in Wellsville murder case - indictments begin

As first reported exclusively by Wellsville Regional News (WRN) on Tuesday, indictments have begun being handed down for some of the eight people accused in the savage killing of Wellsville resident Nicholas Burdge on March 21, 2020. Burdge was murdered in his apartment at 172 1/2 North Main Street.  His body was later dumped in the Genesee River. When WRN received the initial indictment, the name of a juvenile suspect was redacted. After a further push by WRN today, the court agreed to release the name of the teenager, based on the seriousness of the murder charge and its legal obligation. 16-year-old Justin L. Darden of Wellsville was included in the seven-count indictment. His charges include second-degree murder, kidnapping, manslaughter, first-degree gang assault and conspiracy. This morning, State Police brought two of the suspects to the Amity barracks to continue processing on the indictment counts. Seven of the eight remain in the Allegany County Jail; Darden is in a secure youth facility.
Those suspects who have not yet been indicted will have their cases presented to a grand jury shortly.
