Belfast man charged in alleged hammer attack

A Belfast man faces a felony charge following an alleged hammer attack at a home in Belfast. State Police arrested 33-year-old James A. Cox. He was charged with felony assault with intent to cause injury with a weapon. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use. Troopers say Cox fled the scene and was eventually stopped on State Route 19 in Warsaw, He was remanded to the Allegany County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash. The victim was treated at Jones Memorial.
