Wellsville: Village may declare more buildings unsafe, order demolitions

Fire-ravaged home on Martin Street
The Wellsville Village Board will hold a public hearing October 14th to decide if a house on Martin Street and a garage on North Broad Street should be declared unsafe buildings.
Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske says the home on Martin was ravaged by a fire last year and the N. Broad Street garage has been on the radar since 2016. Fenske says the owners can present statements at the hearing scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Oct. 14th. The Board could that night or at a subsequent meeting, officially declare the structures unsafe. If that happens, the property owners will be served with notice and have 30 days to either bring the structures up to code or they must be demolished.
Earlier this week, the Board declared a home at 86 E. Hanover Street to be unsafe. The owner has been summoned to a village meeting on October 28th to advise if repairs have been made or if demolition has been scheduled.
The owner of the Martin Street home is Moshe Kiln-Abrahamov. Fenske said he lives in Israel, but county tax records shows he has a post office box address in Allentown. The home was sold by Paul Ceglia in 2007 and by Luis Jaramillo in 2017. The garage on North Broad Street is owned by David and Aimee Cummins.
Meanwhile, another commercial building is being knocked down this week, but not under any village order, but apparently for economic development purposes. The building once housed a pet store and mattress shop and is located on South Main Street across from Bokman auto dealership.
