Andover: Haunted House opens Friday

There are plenty of scared faces after visiting Andover's Haunted Attraction.
It is lucky 13 for the Andover Haunted House Committee as they prepare to open their annual Haunted Attraction for the 13th year Friday, at "The Brick".
The theme for this year's haunted house is Night Crawlers.
There are new visuals, audio and props, new characters, a morgue with dead people, a 3-D basement where you have to have appropriate glasses, (provided) and creatures from the swamp, said Dawn Niedermaier a member of the AHHC before warning would be visitors, "Don't get captured in the torture chamber."
Between 60 to 70 volunteers have been working since July to create this year's attraction. There will be around 50 actors, in costume, rotating throughout the week. Over the years Niedermaier said the volunteers have become friends and are a lot like family.

Find your way to the Andover Haunted House this Friday and through weekends in October and join the Night Crawlers.
Friday will be the organization's Haunted For Hooters event which raises money for Allegany County Cancer Services.
The first 50 people will receive free T-shirts.
The ACCS is one of several local charities which receives funds from the Haunted Attraction.
Groups of 4 to 6 people at a time will take the 20 minute tour of the 4-story Brick with the Night Crawlers. For those waiting, there is the Escape Room for a separate fee of $13. Those going into the room have to escape it by solving puzzles. There is also a DJ each night and a bon fire. Each night prizes will be randomly thrown into the crowd. There are also refreshments and memorabilia for sale. The event takes place rain or shine and there is a large pavilion in which to wait.
The Haunted Attraction will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, on the 27th and 28th and on October 4th and 5th. On weekends from October 11th to 26th it will be open from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. On Halloween, Oct. 31st., it will be open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Proceeds from Halloween night will go to Guiding Eyes For the Blind.

The cost for the four-floor tour with The Night Crawlers is $15. Most credit cards are accepted. The Haunted Attraction is not recommended for children under 13, but it is left to the discretion of the parents.
