Friendship accident leads to felony DWI charge for Olean man

PRESS RELEASE
On August 26, 2019, SP Amity Troopers arrested Maxwell J. Missel, 37, of Olean, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated – Previous Conviction Within the Past Ten Years, Refusal to Take a Breath Test, and Drinking Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle on a Highway.
During their investigation of a one-car accident on Interstate 86 in the town of Friendship, Missel, the driver, was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Missel was arrested and transported to SP Amity, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.
Missel was arraigned in Friendship Town Court where he was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond. He is due to reappear in that court in September.
