Bookkeeper charged with stealing more than $82,000 from Canaseraga business

Amity-based State Police arrested Robin D. Pifer, 57, of Canaseraga. Acting on a warrant, troopers charged her with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony. Investigators said between 2015 and 2017, Pifer allegedly stole a total of $82,263.83. Police said after Pifer left her job, the owner hired a new bookkeeper who discovered irregularities. A forensic audit was conducted and the results were forwarded to police. Pifer was taken into custody at the Livingston County Jail where she was detained on unrelated charges. She was transported to town of Friendship court where she was arraigned and remanded back to Livingston County Jail without bail. State Police did not publicly identify the business that suffered the loss. Further court action is pending.
