State Police Blotter

A drug bust in the town of Friendship has sent a woman to the Allegany County Jail. Acting on a warrant, state police arrested 39-year-old Tonja L. Hopseker. She was taken into custody on Depot Street. She faces six serious felony counts including criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. She was remanded to jail without bail pending an arraignment.

Troopers foiled a crime in progress last night in the Town of Wellsville. State police said they arrested 20-year-old Joshua W. Smith of Wellsville. He was picked up at a cabin on Meservey Hill Road and charged with criminal trespass and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child involving alcohol. Smith will answer the charges in Wellsville Town Court at a later date. Sources said the cabin had been forcibly entered in recent days, prior to the current arrest. Troopers continue to investigate.

Criminal charges have been filed against a man following a domestic dispute in Almond, State police report the arrest of 34-year-old Derek Laymance of Caneadea. He was charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief for allegedly intentionally damaging property. Court action is pending.
