Fire destroys mobile home in Bath

At 4:29 a.m. on Friday July26th the Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire at 35 Ash Street in the Village of Bath. The caller Rebecca Miller, who is the owner, stated her living room was on fire in her mobile home. Bath Village Police were first on scene and confirmed a working fire on their arrival. The fist Bath Fire Department officer on scene, Joe Washburn, also confirmed the fire and requested the Bath VA Fire Department to respond with their engine to the scene. The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

Units from Hammondsport, Savona and Kanona were also called to the scene for manpower as well as the Bath Volunteer Ambulance Corps to check over the owner of the home, who did escape safely with her pet cats. The Steuben County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to determine the cause of the fire which is currently still under investigation.
The Steuben Area Red Cross was called and responded to the scene to assist Rebecca Miller. All units returned and were back in service at 8:03 a.m.
