One vote separates Amity candidates for Town Justice

Every vote matters. That statement rings true today in the Town of Amity where a single vote separates the candidates for the job of Amity Town Justice.
Steven Presutti took that job by appointment in 1980. Since then, the Justice has won every election since. This year, however, the seasoned court leader decided he would retire. Judge Presutti has served on the bench as long as I have been delivering news. I have sat in his courtroom for trials and it has been nothing but law and order...with strict comments and orders to the media.
The GOP primary on Tuesday delivered a spell-bounding outcome; Just a single vote separated the two like successors. The Board of Elections said that David Gominiak, a town board member, earned 119 votes. Dennis Stack received 118 votes. The Allegany County Board of Elections can't certify the results because there are 35 absentee ballots in the wind...23 have been received but the Board can't make a decision until July 2nd.  A single vote difference...
