Belmont man headed to state prison after dropping baby while on heroin

A Belmont man is headed to state prison after he dropped a one-year-old child while under the influence of heroin on January 18th. Allegany County Judge Thomas Brown on Friday sentenced Shane E. Kranock, 25, of Belmont to four years in prison followed by three years of post release supervision. Kranock entered a guilty plea to second-degree felony assault. He was initially charged with first-degree assault and child endangerment. Court records show that Kranock, while under the influence of heroin, dropped the child on his head which caused multiple bruises and bleeding to the brain. Officials said this morning that the child is home with family with a generally good outlook. Kranock had no previous felony history. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mike Finn.
