Rescues made, but no injuries in Wellsville river regatta

After the infamous Wellsville Intertube Regatta drifted away from the Genesee River years ago, a private concern attempted to re-inflate the excitment. Today, the third annual event, sponsored by Trout Run Camp Resort on State Route 19 South got underway. The resort is located at the former Level Acres site. The event was protected by dedicated volunteers, part of the Wellsville Ambulance /Rescue Special Operations Medics and their Swift Water Team. Amity Rescue also helped by providing additional support equipment. Anyone who listened to a police scanner may have been concerned by the chatter, but emergency officials told us it was a "normal operation." Yes, there were some incidents, WRN is told...less than six. A few people, repsonders confirmed, had to be brought to safety after canoes or kayaks capsized. Nobody was hurt, trained responders followed training protocols and as one official said, "it was a great day."
This is a facebook statement from Wellsville EMS/Rescue:

With finite resources in rural EMS, resource sharing and shared services becomes a necessity for successful operations. Today with the assistance of Amity Rescue Squad Inc. our Special Operations Rescue Medics provided standby coverage for a local river regatta. Multiple water rescues were performed helping participants who had capsized. No serious injuries resulted.

Thank you to Amity Rescue Squad for assisting in the sharing of resources.
