Painted Post man indicted by a Steuben County Grand Jury for 1,042 counts of Falsifying Business Records

 On February 8, 2019, the State Police in Painted Post arrested Joseph W. Canner, age 37 from Painted Post, NY, after he was indicted by a Steuben County Grand Jury for Grand Larceny 2nd , a class C felony, and 1,042 counts of Falsifying Business Records 1st , class E felonies.
During the period from September 2013 to May 2018, while an employee at the former Sitel business in Painted Post, NY, Joseph Canner allegedly stole over $100,000 through the sale of illegally marketed Wall Street Journal newspaper subscriptions on his personal eBay account. The theft allegedly cost Dow Jones, the parent company of the Wall street Journal, over $200,000 to produce, transport, deliver, and service the stolen subscriptions and resulted in more than $500,000 in lost revenue. Joseph Canner was committed to the Steuben County Jail without bail.
