Wellsville man faces new sex crime charges

A Wellsville man faces new sex crime charges. On Wednesday, state police investigators and troopers arrested Jeffrey J. Howell, 27, of Wellsville. He was charged with the felony crimes of 1st degree criminal sex act involving a girl under the age of 13 and 1st degree sexual abuse. The alleged incidents occurred in the village and town of Wellsville. These charges follow his arrest by Wellsville police last week. Police then charged him with predatory sexual assault against a child, 1st degree rape and more.  Wellsville police Lt. The Allegany County Sheriff's Office says Howell remains locked up. His bail is set at $50,000 cash.
