Second arrest made in Steuben County robbery


PRESS RELEASE
On October 1, 2018, the New York State Police from the Wayland, N. Hornell, and Bath barracks responded to a report of a robbery at Seneca Manor Apartments in the town of Hornellsville. The 31-year-old victim reported that he was tied up with bed sheets and threatened with deadly physical force. During the initial investigation Deangelo Phillips, 19, of Rochester, NY was arrested and charged. On November 30th, 2018, another arrest was made in this case. A Steuben County Superior Court Warrant of Arrest was executed on Richard A. Vanorden, 41, of Bath, NY. Vanorden was charged with Kidnapping in the 2nd degree (class B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree (class B felony), two counts of Robbery 2nd (class C felonies), two counts of Grand Larceny 4th (E felonies), and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child ( A misdemeanors). Vanorden was arraigned in Steuben County Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail and $100,000 bond.
