Houghton College Lyric Theatre Sings for a New World


HOUGHTON, NY - October 30, 2018 - Houghton College’s Lyric Theatre is pleased to present Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World on November 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Wesley Chapel.
Influenced by a broad range of musical genres – including gospel, jazz, and pop – Songs for a New World introduces new characters with each song. From ballads contemplating the power of love, to a pair of men swapping stories of woe and ill luck, to responses to imprisonment, war, and overcoming hardship, Songs invites listeners into an emotional experience that reflects the ebb and flow of life.
The 20-person cast is led by Amanda Cox, director of Lyric Theatre and assistant professor of voice.

Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne; Gaetano Donizetti’s Elixir of Love (L’ elisir d’amore); and Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s Children of Eden.
