Dalton woman killed in crash

PORTAGE: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports a one car fatal crash in the Town of Portage. On October 11, 2018 at approximately 11:08 a.m. the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center (E-911) received a call for a single car motor vehicle crash on State Route 70 in the Town of Portage.
Deputies arrived on scene and discovered through the preliminary investigation that the vehicle had been traveling westbound on State Route 70 and crossed over the opposite lane before going over an earth embankment and striking a tree.
A single female occupant was found to be trapped and unresponsive in the vehicle. There were no passengers.
First responders with Nunda Fire and EMS worked tirelessly to extricate and revive the operator of the vehicle, however the female was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 81-year-old Marian L. Kiley from Dalton, NY. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Command Staff, Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Unit and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Unit were on scene for investigation including reconstruction of the crash. Responding emergency personnel included members from Nunda Fire Department, Nunda EMS, Livingston County EMS, and LifeNet Air Medical Services.
