Wellsville: First Responders render aid to dog at fire scene

No humans were injured but a dog needed help at a fire scene this afternoon in Wellsville. The fire department and ambulance corps were called out at around 12:50 p.m. for a reported fire at a multiple family residence located at 117 East Pearl Street. No active fire was discovered, but the cooking-related incident did generate smoke. The Wellsville Fire Company posted this report on Facebook:
Once on scene, it was determined that there was no working fire, however the structure was filled with smoke. There were reports of a dog still inside. Crews from Wellsville 9 (Emerald Hook and Ladder) and 3 (Wellsville Fire Company) began a room to room search until members from the Emeralds located the dog. Once removed from the structure, the dog was given oxygen from one of Wellsville 3's animal oxygen masks. The smoke was ventilated from the structure and crews returned to service. Thank you to WVAC for the use if your oxygen bottle.
