Obituary: Elma L. Pangburn, 91, formerly of Richburg

ARCADE - Elma L. Pangburn, 91, of 302 South View Drive and a former Richburg resident passed away on Friday July 13, 2018 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born January 11, 1927 in Bolivar she was the daughter of Elmer and Mary Baldwin Mitchell. She married Calvin Pangburn on January 10, 1954 in Bradford, PA. Mr. Pangburn preceded her in death in February 2004. Elma was a graduate of Bolivar Central School class of 1944 and the Berdoyn Beauty School Buffalo, 1947. She was a hair stylist at the Sample Shop and Karl Richards for many years. In April 1992 Elma became magistrate for the town of Wirt and later the Village of Richburg until her retirement in 2005. She was recognized for her wisdom and compassion while on the bench. She was a Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 265 for eleven years, Member of Pioneer Seniors Arcade, Clarksville’s Fireman’s Aux. and later Allegany Co. Fireman’s Aux. In1983 she joined the 4Cs Senior Citizens Club Bolivar and was secretary from 1993-2005. In 1966 she joined the NYS Home Bureau of Buffalo, and a member of Allegany, Wyoming and Cattaraugus County Home Bureau. In 2010 Elma was honored to have a Home Bureau scholarship dedicated in her name. Surviving are three children, Tom Pangburn of Clearwater, FL, Heidi (Casper) Miller of Machias, Penny (Robert) Muscarella of Tonawanda; Eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; One sister, Vesta Lewis of Brewerton,N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by a son, Drew Pangburn; One sister, Helen Mitchell; Four Brothers, Lyle, Robert, Claude, and Allyn Mitchell. Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Tuesday 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. Pastor Larry Allen of the Richburg First Day Baptist Church will officiate. Burial in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
