Obituary: Patrick D. Kennedy, 83, Cuba

CUBA — Patrick D. Kennedy, of 2018 Route 305, passed away Friday (June 22, 2018) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo, after a brief illness. Born Jan. 16, 1935, in Jamestown, he was the son of Marion Nelson. On June 22, 1985, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean, he married Cynthia Parker, who survives. Mr. Kennedy was a graduate of Jamestown High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955. He worked for several car dealerships in the Olean area as a car salesman. After retirement, Mr. Kennedy was a courier for the Olean Medical Group. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Portville and STARS (Southern Tier Aero Radio Society). He was also a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Norton Chambers Post 1434, the Olean Rod and Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Kennedy was an avid antique collector and with his wife, owned Peek and Ceek Antiques. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Scott (Debi) Kennedy of Tucson, Ariz., Steven (Tonya) Kennedy of Scio, Dan Kennedy of Phoenix, Ariz., Tom Kennedy of San Diego; three step-children, Kevin (Jerri) Keis, Brian Keis and Danielle (Amy Reuther) Keis, all of Olean; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his cousins, Richard and Michael Harrison, both of California. Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday (June 28, 2018) at the First Presbyterian Church, 19 N. Main Street, Portville, at which time a memorial service will begin. Rev. Marilyn Hale, pastor, will officiate. Memorials if desired may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, 51 S. Main Street, Portville.
