Obituary: Robert C. Bentley, 68, Angelica

Angelica - Robert C. Bentley, 68, of Angelica, NY passed away Wednesday March 7, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hospital. He was born January 31, 1950 in Fillmore, NY to the late Oliver J. and Althea Gillette Bentley.
Bob was a 1971 graduate of Fillmore Central School. He was a member of the first graduating class at BOCES in Belmont, NY in the Conservation program, and from the Building Trades program. He graduated from Alfred State College also studying Building Trades. Bob worked at the Kittinger Company in Castile, NY for over five years. He then joined the Peace Corps and worked on various construction projects and taught in Quito, Ecuador. He had a life-long love of the culture and people of Ecuador and returned many time over the years.
Bob moved to Sevierville, TN in 1991 and became a much-loved member of the community. He worked at Music Mansion with the James Rogers show and at Dollywood where he’ll be fondly remembered for his large personality. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his kind and thoughtful actions.
Bob enjoyed all things “Food” and loved eating his way through the hundreds of restaurants in Sevier County. Bob spent many hours playing and mastering video games…Sega, Nintendo and Play Station. He was an avid reader and had an impressive wealth of knowledge and was among the best at Jeopardy. Bob was a founding member of the Angelica Chess Club. Bob’s favorite movies were Old Yeller, and The Swiss Family Robinson. Bob had many special gifts he shared with all who knew him. We will remember his stories and the nicknames he gave us all.
He is survived by his brothers Jonathan M. (Cynthia) Bentley of Angelica, NY, and James O. (Patricia Ann) Bentley of Sevierville, TN, and his sister Kathleen (Robert) Potter of Angelica, NY, and step brother Clayton (Jean) Bentley of Short Tract, NY. Bob is also survived by nieces Tami (John) Ostherhout, Sheri (Justin) Abbey, Christina Bentley, and Kelly Potter, and his nephew Andrew Potter. He is also survived by eight step nieces and nephews, many cousins, and numerous friends.
A Graveside service will be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Short Tract Cemetery. The service will be followed by a lunch at the Short Tract Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Short Tract Fire Department.
