I-390 Stop Leads to Pound of Marijuana and 4 Grams of Cocaine

INTERSTATE 390: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of three people for felony drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 390. On March 11, 2018, Deputy Michael Wade and his K9 partner Hondo were assigned to the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Interstate initiative, when he stopped a vehicle for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The Deputy Sheriff found the vehicle to be occupied by three individuals and suspected that they were involved in drug activity following observations in the vehicle including the odor of marijuana and suspected marijuana shake on the drivers lap. Deputy Matthew Thomas and Deputy Jason Butterbrodt arrived on scene to assist.
The roadside investigation led to the discovery of over a pound of marijuana in the vehicle as well as approximately 4 grams of cocaine.

The findings led to the arrest of the driver, 35 year old Jason A. Quick from Canisteo, NY for felony Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 3rd Degree, as well as the Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. A passenger, 26 year old Marcus J. Ruckdeschel from Nunda, NY was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 3rd Degree. A passenger, 19 year old Dylan M. Lew from Portageville, NY was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 3rd Degree, as well as felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree.

The charges may be increased following official weights from the lab.
Quick, Ruckdeschel, and Lew were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney's Office was contacted in regards to bail and recommended $1,000 cash or $2,500 bond for each. A judge sent all three to jail.
