Troopers arrest student for school violence threats

On February 16, 2018 at 9:10 a.m., Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to Randolph Academy in Randolph, NY, for a threat of violence reported to school staff.
The school went into a lockout while State Police investigated the report. Troopers and BCI located a 16-year-old student believed to be involved in the incident, and transported him to SP Machias for questioning.  Subsequently, the lockout was lifted.
The student was taken into custody under the state’s mental hygiene law and is being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
