Obituary: Paul B. Gordon, 81, Black Creek

Paul B. Gordon  Loving Father, grandfather, and great grandfather

Paul B. Gordon, 81, of 6372 Rte 305, Black Creek, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Olean General Hospital surrounded by his children and grand children.Born on March 30, 1936, in the Town of New Hudson, he was a son of Otho and Julia Niles Gordon.  On August 24, 1958 in Cuba, New York he married the former Laura A. Manning who predeceased him on May 21, 2012.


Paul attended school at the Black Creek Schoolhouse and later attended and graduated from Cuba Central School Class of 1954.
He worked as a laborer for Local 621 doing construction all of his life prior to retiring.
Paul was a fifty plus year member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America Local 621 where he held various offices, was Vice President of the Black Creek Cemetery Association for many years, was a member and past Vice President of the New Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Bell Ringer.  For many years he drove the church van to various functions and was the cookie and refreshment man for Vacation Bible School. He is survived by his children Michael Gordon of Black Creek, Susan Gordon of Black Creek, Mary Gordon Cornelius of Black Creek, Melinda (John) Kaffitz of Wellsville; 12 Grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren;2 Sister-in-laws Dorothy Gordon of Nunda, Betty Gehris of Cuba. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by two brothers Frank and John Gordon and a sister Mabel Colley. Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street., Cuba on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.where funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  The Rev. John Asquith, pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
