Lent, with Grace United Church

Lent, the season leading up to Easter, is important to us at Grace United Church, giving us opportunities for reflection, education and connection.  Join us for the following special events.
Lenten Series

Grace United Church has many partners in the community who do their work, hold meetings, and perform in one of our buildings.  This year’s Lenten Series will introduce some of those partners.  Each talk is held at our Worship Center, 289 N. Main Street Wellsville, beginning with a light supper at 6 pm, followed by the speaker.  The public is invited to attend.
On February 28th, Lesley Christman will speak about poverty in our county.  Ms. Christman is the Executive Director of ACCORD Corporation and also on the Board of The Community Kitchen which serves a weekly meal at our Mission Center at 99 Maple Avenue.
On March 7, Rick Surita of Directions for Independent Living will speak about the important work his organization does with people of varying abilities in our area.  Directions is opening a Wellsville office in our Mission center.  Grace has also worked with them in our ramp building work.
On March 21, Craig Braack will speak about “Birds and Birding in Allegany County”.  Craig is a member of the Allegany County Bird Club, which meets regularly in our Worship Center at 289 North Main.
Special Services
Grace United Church celebrates Holy Week with a special Maundy Thursday service, March 29 at 7 pm, at our Worship Center.  This service commemorates Jesus’ last supper with his disciples, the evening before his crucifixion.  This is an intimate service which is open to all.
Easter is the high point of the Christian calendar, and we at Grace celebrate it with a joyous service Sunday, April 1 at 10 am.   We encourage you to join us on Easter as a way of reconnecting with the church and with your faith.  For additional information call 585-593-5015.
