RELEASE: Congressman Tom Reed Recklessly Votes to Hurt New York Families

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Democrat Eddie Sundquist Calls on Congressman Tom Reed to Stand Up for New York Families by Voting “No” on Tax Bill

Today, Congressmen Tom Reed (R-NY) voted in favor of the GOP Tax Scam in the House of Representatives. This comes just days after Rep. Reed claimed in an interview "I can't support the complete elimination of state and local tax deduction." The bill Rep. Reed voted for today eliminates the SALT deduction for income tax, which will be disastrous for middle-class New Yorkers.

In response, Reed's constituents took to twitter to eviscerate him for abandoning his district:
  • "You are bad at your job. I mean like, really bad at your job."
  • "You just voted to screw over working and middle-class families in communities across NY state, the northeast, and the country. This is not a win for anyone except GOP billionaire corporate donors, Wall Street bankers, Trump's kids, and the 1%."
  • "Congratulations on choosing your party over your constituents. I will enjoy casting a vote against you next year."
In response, Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

"Tom Reed's vote today shows he doesn't care about the people here. He only cares about getting a tax cut for himself, his billionaire donors, and Donald Trump.

When I am elected to Congress, I will have the back of New York families. Instead of appeasing the rich, I will work tirelessly to bring jobs, healthcare, and an end to the opioid crisis for our home."
