Troopers investigating alleged 'credit card skimmers' at biz in northern Allegany County

Credit/Debit card skimmers are devices criminals plant at point of sale machines, like ATM's, gas pumps and more. This activity has been largely confined to metro areas, but today, State Police assigned to Allegany County are busy looking into alleged crimes in the Fillmore area.
Investigators confirmed, in general, that Troopers were busy conducting interviews in the northern part of the county regarding skimmer devices. According to one social media report, "skimmers on the pumps at Hanson Farms and Shop and Save. If you used your debit card chances are you were account was compromised, be sure to check."
State Police dialed back the alarm when asked, but did confirm simply that there is an ongoing investigation today into the alleged criminal conduct. I was told more information should be available within the next 24 hours.
To me be safe...check your statements.
If an ATM or gas pump appears 'adjusted' or if you see something out of place, call police. While not the most convenient effort, it is always safest to enter the store and have the clerk manually 'swipe the card.'
