Public assistance with multiple fire investigations results in arrest

PRESS RELEASE
On September 15, 2017, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested Joshua Monette, 18 of Farmersville, NY for Arson 3rd (C Felony) and Criminal Mischief 2nd (D Felony).
On April 21, 2017, Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) were called to investigate a fire at Huyck Road in the Town of Farmersville. The investigation revealed that a seasonal camp and two house trailers were destroyed by fire. Cattaraugus County Fire Investigators established that the fires to the properties were intentionally started.
The total approximate values of the properties are estimated at $50,000.
On April 25, 2017 the NYSP posted a public assistance press release that resulted in numerous interviews which resulted in the arrest of Monette for arson.
Monette was processed at SP Machias and arraigned at the Town of Machias Court. Monette was given a return date of October 4, 2017. On the date of arrest, Monette was out on $75,000 bail from an arrest on May 23, 2017 following an amber alert in the Town of Lyndon.
