The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private
foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State, has
welcomed a new board member, Ruthanne Ashworth, of Hornell.An assistant professor in the Nursing Department, Ashworth
joined the college in January 2017. She received an associate degree in nursing
from Alfred State, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport, and a
Master of Science in Nursing from Binghamton University.In addition to her teaching and advising duties at the
college, Ashworth continues to work per diem as a nurse practitioner for
Regional Gastroenterology Inc. in Lancaster, PA, where she has been employed
for the last 15 years. She is also a member of Alfred State’s Senate Assessment
and General Education Committee, and its Budget and Planning Committee.Outside of the college, Ashworth is a member of the American
Nurses Credentialing Center, the National League for Nurses, a prior member of
the St. Leo the Great School Board of Education, and a past member of St.
Philip Apostle Church, where she served as a religious educator and Eucharistic
minister prior to relocating to New York in January 2017.She is the parent of one daughter, Mary.
