On June 21, 2017, the New York State Police in conjunction with the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit in Canandaigua, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Corning, and the Hornell Police Department initiated an investigation involving a person allegedly promoting child pornography over the internet. The offenses occurred in the City of Hornell, NY.
As a result of the investigation, on August 24, 2017, police arrested Ryan D. Hamilton, age 24, 195 Madison Ave. in the City of Hornell. He was charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” Felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a child, a class “E” Felony.  State Police Investigator Jennifer Cole said the arrest was the result of Hamilton allegedly sharing files using his computer that depicted children under the age of 16 engaged in sexual conduct.
