Obituary: Joan "Jo" E. Kershner, 69, Angelica area

Joan “Jo” E. Kershner, 69, of 8867 Route 256, passed away unexpectedly Thursday (April 20, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 16, 1948, the daughter of Manton and Edith Benjamin Hooker, she was a lifelong area resident. Jo attended the former Angelica Central School, and later graduated from Bolivar Central School. She went onto Alfred Ag-Tech and graduated with a Secretarial Degree. She went on to work at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, and later ran TJ’s Restaurant at the Six-S golf course. She had also worked for Seneca Motors in Hornell, sold Avon, and most recently had her own Doll repair business, (Jo’s Dollectibles) of which she ran in Angelica. Jo attended the Angelica United Methodist Church, the Angelica Chapter of the O.E.S., and the Angelica Legion Auxillary.
She was predeceased by her parents, her step son Christopher Kershner, a brother in law August Gloskey, and ex-sister in law Nancy Ross Hooker, and her niece Penny Hooker Cavanaugh.
She is survived by her husband William Kershner, whom she married July 21, 1990, 2 step sons William (Joanne) Kershner Jr., Andrew (Terri) Kershner, her sister Bonita Gloskey, 3 brothers Benjamin (Glenda) Hooker, Alan (Judy) Hooker, Raymond (Irene) Hooker, 7 granchildren, a great granddaughter Kendall Gould, and several nieces, and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends Monday (April 24, 2017) from 4-7p.m. at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home located on 101 West Avenue in Angelica. A Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 1:00p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Mackmer officiating. Burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery in Dansville.
