More than a half dozen fire departments were called this morning at 8:58 a.m. to a garage involved in fire with a nearby home at risk at 2703 Pine Grove Road in the Town of Wirt. As one fire chief approached the scene, he told 911 that he could see "heavy black smoke" which triggered a large scale response. Called to the scene - crews and equipment from Bolivar, Richburg, Clarksville, Allentown, Friendship, Alma, Scio, Shinglehouse, Wellsville fire & EMS and FAST Team 3. There were no early reports of injuries. The fire was declared under control within an hour or so. As volunteers battled the blaze, Bolivar received a second alarm for a possible electrical fire at a home in Kossuth. There was no significant, if any, damage in the second alarm.
According to Allegany County tax records, the Pine Grove property is owned by Adam Brian Cyr. Investigators were called to the scene to identify the cause.

UPDATED 2:49pm:
A fire Thursday morning wrecked a garage and caused some damage to a home at 2703 Pine Grove Road in Wirt. Allegany County Fire Coordinator Jeff Luckey said this afternoon that the cause was "accidental" in nature and was called in by the property owner. Flames destroyed an equipment-filled garage and also damaged a nearby home. He pegged damaged at between $75,000 to $100,000. Luckey said the home sustained some siding and roof damage. The garage, he said, acted as an auto shop as well. The Fire Coordinator said the blaze was brought under control within an hour, although firefighters, he said, remained at the scene for 3-4 hours. Luckey said the volunteers did "a great job" in limiting damage to nearby exposures.
